Reflections Theme:    I Will Change The World By...

DISTRICT DEADLINE: December 8, 2021
Buildings will establish Internal Deadlines

All student entries must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Each entry must be the original work of one student only

  • A student may create their entry inside or outside of school

  • A student may submit entries in more than one category

  • Each entry must be accompanied by a completed and signed Student Entry Form

  • Student entries must include a title and artist statement that communicates their inspiration for the work and how it relates to this year’s theme of "I Will Change The World By..." in at least 1 sentence but not exceed 100 words.

Judging Information

Entries will be judged by professionals in each field primarily on how well the student uses his or her artistic vision to portray the theme, rather than their technical skill or creative process.


All PTA Reflections program entries are judged on three criteria:

 1. Interpretation of Theme (40 pts.)

2. Creativity (30 pts.)

3. Technique (30 pts.)

Notice how heavily “Interpretation of Theme” is weighted? This is what makes the National PTA Reflections Arts Program unique. A well-developed concept is more important than technique. If two entries are tied, the entry with the higher score for interpretation of theme receives more recognition.


How to submit entries:

Step 1

Read How to Enter/Official Rules

Click below to read How to Enter/Official Rules.  It is very important that you read this and follow the instructions for entry sizes and file types.  If your entry does not follow these rules, it may be disqualified.

Also, check the "e-mail addresses for submission" link in step 4 to be sure that your school's PTA is participating this year.


Step 2

Entry Form

Buildings will establish submission format. Formats may be submitted to the State and National Level in either electronic or physical form. 

All submissions will require a student entry form.  This must be signed, and legibly, completely filled out. Click the button below to print your entry form. 

In first section at top of form, fill in as follows: 

Local PTA: (your school name)

Local PTA ID: (see link below for list)



Step 3 

Prepare your Art or file(s):

ALL CATEGORIES: name your file as follows: first initial or artist, last initial of artist, category (Example: Jane Smith submitting a song would be file name JSMusic). 

Photography, Visual Arts categories: Physical OR Electronic submissions allowed by Ohio PTA.

Music Composition, Film/Video Productions, Literature, Dance Choreography categories: Submit file in appropriate format.

Step 4

Submit your entry to the school office or e-mail address for your school NO LATER THAN MIDNIGHT on the date for your building's deadline.

Click the button below to find an e-mail address corresponding with your school.  E-mail your attachments with the following in the subject line: First name, last name, category. (Example: Jane Smith, Music Composition.)


Step 5

Congratulations! You did it!

Put a copy/picture of your artwork or back up electronic file and your original signed entry form in a very safe place! 

Winners from each school will compete at the district level.  Winners at the district level will compete at state, and those winners will compete nationally. Save your work in case they are needed for State or National levels.

School winners will be announced no later than December 10th, 2021.

District winners will be announced no later than January 10th, 2022.
